2021 MLK Business Award Recipient Tracy Freeman, CEO-Freeman Residential

Freeman Residential Services, LLC, an agency that provides service to individuals with developmental disabilities. Tracy founded Freeman Residential Services in 2006. She has worked with individuals with disabilities for over 17 years. Tracy graduated with a Summa cum laude Bachelor’s degree from Walsh University. She has provided services and a level of care and commitment that is unparalleled to others in the industry. She is one who cares, not only for the individuals served by Freeman Residential Services but also for each of her support staff.

Her passion for those with disabilities and dedication to the well-being of others led her desire to work with those and be an advocate for those unable to communicate for themselves. Tracy’s consensus building and collaboration is noted among individuals’ guardians as they share testimonies of Tracy’s significant impact on the quality of life for people with Developmental Disabilities. They point to her commitment to ensuring people with Developmental Disabilities are supported to believe in their dreams, achieve their personal goals, connect to their community, and give back to others.

Tracy has assisted numerous individuals in the startup of their own agencies, as well as sharing other important information to avoid pitfalls that can happen when starting new agency.

Freeman Residential Services is one of the minority-owned businesses in Stark County selected to participate in the ELITE program, a business development program that provides resources and strategies to help the businesses achieve their goals.

Tracy currently serves on the board of R.O.S.S. Consulting (Raising Outcomes for Student Success), mentor youth at Gibbs Elementary School, served on the Planning Committee for the Women and Girls of Color Town Hall in partnership with the African American Policy Forum and Leila Greene Alliance of Black School Educators in 2017, and partnered with the Peace Rally in June of 2020.

Tracy is married to Clinton Marbury and is the mother of Cameron, Tyson and Braxton Freeman.
